Scarborough's May Schuller's landscapes inspired by Canada, Norway

Once the children were old enough to fend for themselves, however, May was able to indulge an interest she had always had in painting. Although she had no formal education in art, May learned her skill by taking courses with great instructors and going out on location to paint with other artists. Perhaps it was to honour the splendid topography of her native Norway that caused May to become enthralled with Canadian landscapes, or it might have been the inspiration she drew from the famous Group of Seven artists. But, whatever the reason, May now succeeds in always painting gorgeous landscapes to honour Canada and her own love of the great outdoors.

May Schuller became a member of the Art Guild of Scarborough in 1990 and her paintings are always greatly admired in the Guild’s annual spring and fall shows.
